Malbec
Malbec can be generous without feeling heavy, or firm enough to want food. Compare the texture and alcohol of the bottle before choosing by the grape name alone.
Look at the shape of the wine
A soft, rounded Malbec and a firmer one can serve different purposes. Body tells you about weight; tannin describes the drying grip. Check both if you are looking for an alternative to a bottle you enjoyed.
Put the sauce in the picture
Grilled beef is a useful starting point, but a mushroom sauce, chilli dressing or sweet glaze changes the pairing. Describe the whole dish in the pairing tool rather than asking it to work from “beef” alone.
Compare origins without a fixed expectation
Malbec from Argentina and France gives you a useful comparison, provided you keep the individual wines in view. Neither country name guarantees a particular texture. Record what differs between the bottles you actually try.
