Napa Valley

Cabernet Sauvignon is a prominent part of Napa Valley, but a regional name still leaves plenty of differences between bottles.

01

Compare the producer and structure

If you are buying a Napa Cabernet, check its body, tannin and alcohol against a bottle you know. These are more useful for choosing dinner wine than assuming every example will have the same weight.

02

Keep reputation separate from preference

A recognised place does not establish what you will enjoy or what a bottle should cost. Confirm the vintage and retail price, then keep your own tasting observations when you open it.
